Cathe Theater Performances

Wednesday, Aug. 15, 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  Join us for a special performance by this  Burlington Youth Theater group!  These talented kids will be performing a skit to music, as well as reader’s theater. Children’s Performance at 10:00 am. Teen Performance at 1:00 pm.

 

Strings, Keys, and Reed Musical Trio

Friday, Aug. 10, 4:30 p.m.  Join us at the Waterford Library for this musical event. Local musicians will blissfully be filling the Library with beautiful notes of classical music and jazz. Prepare to be swept away with this wonderful concert. Light refreshments will be provided from Absolutely Waterford. 

 

Read to Tammy

The Buzz About Bees with Wehr Nature Center

What animal is smaller than a pea, can travel 12 miles daily, and make one of the sweetest treats on the planet? The Honey Bee! This summer children will join our beekeeper to learn what all the buzz is about bees. Through costumes, role playing, and interactive activities, participants will experience a day in the life of a honey bee in its home hive.
Children will practice gathering pollen, caring for young, producing honey, guarding their fellow family members, and communicating through scent and dance. After finishing all their “chores”, everyone will taste a sweet treat compliments of the honey bee.

Block Party with UW-Extension

The University of Wisconsin-Extension and the Waterford Library welcomes you and your child to a block party!  Blocks are a tool for learning math, science, pre-reading, social, and physical skills.  Adults can guide children’s early learning experiences and use blocks as the tools to support their development. Join us for this fun and educational play experience.

Due to a retirement, the Waterford Public Library Board is seeking a dynamic, energetic and creative person with strong dedication to community and customer service to become our Library Director. The Director is responsible for administration of all aspects of library services, and will work actively with the library, staff, community groups, including our own Friends of the Library, as well as local and regional agencies to promote library/community relations. The Library Director reports to a 7-member Board of Trustees and is responsible for the overall management of the library, including formulating the library’s budget and overseeing the 18,239 square ft. physical structure. The qualified candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills and have an open door policy for both staff and patrons.

Waterford is an established community in Racine County, WI, and located 29 miles southwest of Milwaukee. The Village of Waterford’s population is more than 5,300 residents with a surrounding service population of more than 22,000 people. As the cornerstone of the community, the beautiful Waterford Public Library is centrally located in the village and next to the Fox River. The library enjoys local support, with a collection of more than 98,000 items and an annual circulation of more than 184,000 items. The library has 4 full time and 12 part time employees, and is a member of the Lakeshores Library System and the SHARE automation consortium.

Qualifications: Master’s in Library Science (ALA accredited), ability to obtain Grade 1 Public Librarian Certification, plus at least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a public library, including at least 2 in a supervisory position. Grant writing experience a plus. Salary starts at $58,000 with potential to earn more depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits including participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System. A complete position description can be found at www.waterfordwi.org/employment.

Glow Dance Party for Teens!

Teens will celebrate summer reading accomplishments with this party to Rock the Library! DJ Mike will provide the music and we will provide the fun and the pizza!  Thursday, August 2 from 12pm – 2pm. Registration is required. Register online, by phone, or in person.

Reading Celebration with Aloha Chicago!

Join us as we celebrate summer reading! Over 1,100 children participated in the program this year and everyone is invited to celebrate them and their accomplishments! Bounce Houses, a dunk tank, pizza, and a island dance performance by Aloha Chicago will be in Village Hall Park next to the library on Tuesday, July 31 from 5 – 7pm!
