Waterford Public Library Overdue Policy
The Waterford Library Board of Trustees voted to go fine free for the trial period of one year beginning on January 1, 2019.
Items that no longer acquire fines are:
• Books
• CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Rays
• Audiobooks on CD and Playaway
• Magazines
Items that still incur fines:
Kindles and Launchpads ($1.00 per day)
Wi-Fi Hotspots ($5.00 per day)
ALL kits and realia items ($.25 per day)
Items owned by or checked out at other libraries (typically $.25 per day)
The patron will receive a bill if items are kept 35 days past their due date. These items will be considered lost and the patron will be billed the replacement cost of each outstanding item. Checkout privileges will be suspended until all materials are returned or paid in full.
Items that are not returned within one month of billing will be regarded as stolen property and the bill will be turned over to the Waterford Police Department.
The Waterford Police Department will issue a citation to the patron to appear in municipal court and pay a municipal fine in addition to the cost of library materials and fines.
